Week 3 Manual Mode/Framing and Composition
In Class Exercise
1. Take a Portrait with a Close Crop
Shutter Speed 1/500 Fstop 22 ISO 6400
Shutter Speed 1/500 Fstop 22 ISO 6400
I took these two images as my close Crop Portraits of Barbara-Ann. I asked her to sit on one of the park benches and look out and down onto the bench. I was deciding on what angle I wanted the image to be taken and decided it looked nicer with me standing on the bench and facing the camera down onto Barbie, I also took these with a Wider depth of field. For editing of both these images I took the clarity down to smoothen the images, took the contrast up and took the blacks down just to get back some detail that was taken away.
2. Space of Frame Portrait
Shutter Speed 1/640 Fstop 22 ISO 6400
Shutter Speed 1/640 Fstop 22 ISO 6400
I took these images as my Space of Frame Portraits. This time I asked Barbie to stay on the bench but turn around so I could see her fully without the table being in the way. I asked her to look both left and right like she was looking at something in the distance on both sides. I also choose to keep it at a wider depth of field. I shot these crouched down so I'd be more in level. For both these images I upped the contrast and upped the vibrancy to make the colours more brighter.
3. Images with your subject on one of 4 rule of thirds Intersections
Shutter Speed 1/1000 Fstop 22 ISO 6400
Shutter Speed 1/400 Fstop 22 ISO 6400
I had fun finding different things to put on my rule of thirds intersections. I found the top image as I was walking past a tree and thought it'd look cool especially with the patterning in the background. I put the flower on the bottom right rule of thirds intersection. The bottom image of the glass bottle I found around the same area. I choose to this time put the subject on the left bottom intersection. I like how the bottle leads your eye to the top right hand corner because of the way it's facing. The Bottom image I edited in Photoshop Raw like the first 4 images. For this one I increased the clarity.
4. Take An Image with a Close Crop and Space of Frame
Shutter Speed 1/1250 Fstop 22 ISO 6400
Shutter Speed 1/1250 Fstop 22 ISO 6400
I took this flower image as my close up and space of frame image. I crouched down and got really close to the flower and zoomed in a bit to get the top image and then stood up and zoomed out to get more space around the flower.
Week 3 Manual Mode/Framing and Composition
Self Directed Task
1. Take a Portrait with a Close Crop
Shutter Speed 1/50 Fstop 5.6 ISO 100
Shutter Speed 1/50 Fstop 5.6 ISO 100
These are my Self Directed Close Crop Images. This time instead of shooting with a Wide depth of field like I did with my in class exercises, I choose to shoot with a more Narrow Depth of field. For the Top Image I shot with a downward angle, I sat on top of a gate and looked down on my sister. The bottom image just kinda happened. we were taking images and "Sindy" came over and got in shot BUT I thought it looked cute so I decided to add it as one of my close crop images. I took this image at a more level angle. I edited both these images in Photoshop Raw. The Top image I increased the temperature to make the image feel warmer. I took the exposure down and increased the contrast to give it more detail and decreased the shadowing. I did the exact same thing to the bottom image but I didn't do anything with the exposure for this image.
2. Space of Frame Portrait
Shutter Speed 1/50 Fstop 5.0 ISO 100
Shutter Speed 1/50 Fstop 7.1 ISO 100
I took these images for my Space of Frame Portrait. For the Top Image I asked "Richenda" to look like she was doing something with the plants. And I took this image at a more leveled angle. This was the very first image I took and I love how it turned out. For the second image I went to the top of our driveway and asked "Richenda" to do the same thing but from a higher angle and I think it came out quite well. For the Top Image in Photoshop I took up the temperature to make it seem warmer and upped the contrast for more detail. The Bottom Image I took the temperature and contrast up as well and added highlights.
3. Images with your subject on one of the 4 rule of thirds Intersections
Shutter Speed 1/50 Fstop 7.1 ISO 100
Shutter Speed 1/50 Fstop 7.1 ISO 100
Shutter Speed 1/100 Fstop 7.1 ISO 100
I took these images as my subject on a rule of thirds intersection. For the first image I choose a flower on the Top Right Intersection. Middle Image A fence reel on the Top Left Intersection, and Bottom Image pegs on the Bottom Right Intersection.
4. Landscape Images images using the rule of thirds to place Horizon Line
Shutter Speed 1/100 Fstop 7.1 ISO 100
Shutter Speed 1/100 Fstop 7.1 ISO 100
I took these images as my Landscape Images. I tried to get the horizon straight alone the top of rule of thirds line. The top image it was more the top of the tree I was aiming at being alone the top.
5. Take an Image with a Close Crop and Space of Frame
Shutter Speed 1/100 Fstop 7.1 ISO 100
Shutter Speed 1/100 Fstop 7.1 ISO 100
I took these images as my close crop and and space of frame images. The statue is a statue from our garden. I took these images from a high angle, and took the Images from the back of the statues head rather than the front as I felt it looked different.
6. Bernd and Hilla Becher Inspired Image
Shutter Speed 1/100 Fstop 7.1 ISO 100
I took this image as my Bernd and Hilla Becher Inspired Image. I took it with a Wide Depth of field. I tried to get it as front on and centered as possibly could like their images, was kinda hard cause there was bush right next to me. I tried to get as much flat light as I could although I was trying to do that more with the sky. It started spitting as I was taking these so the dot near the corner of the roof if a rain drop that hit my lens as I was taking the Image.
