Digital Technology Week 2: Basic Panel Camera Raw

Week 2 Digital Technology 1
Basic Panel Camera Raw

In Class

                                         1. Beach Walk
Before
After

I'm not entirely sure how I edited these images because when I saved I forgot to press done, but I do know I cropped the image to take the man out of the side, and decreased the temperature to help the image have more of a natural lighting, and not look so orange. I think I may have also upped the vibrance of the image to make the sky bluer and the girls clothing brighter. And I may have upped the clarity a tiny bit to to give a bit more detail in the image.

                                          2. Flowers
Before
After

Again for this image I'm not entirely sure how I edited it. I do know I used the White Balance tool to cool the image down by clicking on a specific part of the image I felt had cooler tones, and it lightened the image. I may have also take the clarity up by a tiny bit to put a tiny bit more detail in the petals and ground.

                                          3. Beach
Before
After

For this image I took the shadow bar up to lighten the shadowed area of the image and give more detail in that specific part of the image.

                                          4. Murawai
Before
After

I'm not exactly sure how I edited this image either, as again I forgot to press done after I saved BUT I do know I cropped this image to an area that I thought looked the best in the image. I also increased the clarity to get more detail in the sky. And from the colour of the grass I'd say I may have also increased either the vibrance or the saturation of the Image.

                                          5. Landscape
Before
After

For this image again, not too sure how I edited it, BUT I do know I decreased the temperature to get rid of the Greeny, Yellow Colour out of the image. And I may have also increased the vibrance of the image as well to give a bit more colour.

                                          6. In Class Edit Before and After

I felt this image was too yellow before editing so I edited it to rid the yellow and help show more details in the surrounding. I increased the exposure the help brighten the Image. I took the contrast down to show a bit more detail in the image especially in the background. I decreased the clarity to soften the image a bit, And decreased the situation to help get ride of the yellow in the image. And as you can see the editing made a huge difference to the image. The yellow is gone and the image overall looks way better than it did before.

Self Directed Editing

                                          1. Horse
Before
After

For my horse image in editing, I cropped the image down as I felt there was to much space around the horse and it looked better closer in with "Dakota" more centered, I also didn't like the other horse "Sindy" in image on the left. I took the temperature up a bit to help make the grass look a bit more green, and to make the image all round look a bit warmer as the original was taken on a overcast day as the sun was setting.  I used the Exposure Bar to help lighten the image. and took the Contrast bar up a bit to help with the overall contrast of the image. I took the clarity up to help with the detail especially in the back with the moving effect.  And took the whites up just to lighten the darkened area's a bit more. I really love the final result, I feel it looks a lot nicer than the original :)

                                                       2. Guitar
Before
After

For my guitar image in editing, I increased the temperature to help the image appear more heated as the original is a lot more shadowed and darker. I increased the exposure by a tiny bit, and decreased the highlight bar  so you can see the plants in the background easier, and it took away the over exposure from the sun. I also increased the clarity by a bit so you can slightly see more detail on my sisters face.

                                          3. Over Exposed Image
Before
After

This image I tried but I couldn't fully get rid of the over exposure especially in Aroha's face and a bit in the background BUT it does look heaps better than it did :) For this image I decreased the exposure to help darken the  image, with it being so over exposed. I then increased the contrast to help give a bit more detail to the image. I then took the Highlight bar down to try get rid of some of the whites in the image. I took the blacks up to try get a bit more shadowing in the image for more detail. And took the saturation down to help get rid of some of the brightness of the whites. I also took the temperature down to try darken the image as well.

                                          4. Under Exposed Image
Before
After

For this image I increased the tint just a tiny bit and increased the exposure to help lighten the image. I also decreased the contrast to try help lighten. And decreased the highlights, I did this mainly cause it helped take the red colour from the walls in the background. I increased the whites to try help the dark area's in the image lighten. And increased the black all the way to 100, Which I thought would darken the image but actually lightened. I also increased the clarity for more detail. Enhanced the vibrance to try add more colour after taking some away from the lightening. And decreased the saturation by a very small bit.
