Week 3 Digital Technology
Straightening, HSL/Grayscale Panel Camera RAW
In Class
1. In Class Before and After

For this image I went to the HSL/Grayscale Panel to make it black and white. I also decreased reds to make the red part of the photo (The bottom of the letter box and edges of the sign) less pronounced. I decreased the yellows, greens, and aqua's for the same reasons. I decreased the blues to make the sky more shadowy and upped the purples and magenta's so they stand out more behind the black and white.
2. University
Before
After
For this image I straightened it using Auto Function in Lens Correction and used the White Balance tool to colour correct the image to get rid of the blue by pressing a neutral colour on the foot path, I also took the tint up. I also made further adjustments by taking the exposure up to make the image a bit brighter, I took the highlights down, upped the clarity for a bit more detail, took the vibrance up for more colour, and took the reds up a tiny bit in the HSL/Greyscale Luminance Panel to make the reds on the roof stand out a bit more. I also resized the longest edge to 20cm and set the resolution to 72dpi, in photoshop and saved this file as a JPEG
3. Lantern
After Image
I can't exactly remember how I edited this image as I forgot to press done when I finished and accidentally saved this as the original and I wasn't to sure how to undo so I have no before image.
I do know I cropped this image to make it smaller and have the lantern as more of the focus. I also straightened this image using the A Function I'm pretty sure. I also increased the vibrance of the image to give more colour. I think I may have used the Tint Bar to make the lantern yellow? I'm not entirely sure on that though. I saved the longest edge of this image as 20cm and set the resolution to 72dpi, in Photoshop. And saved as a JPEG
Self Directed Editing
1. Self Directed Before and After
Before and After
For this image I took the clarity of the image up to show more detail especially around Rabia's scarf and face. I took the saturation all the way down to -100 to make the image black and white, and upped the shadowing a bit to darken parts of the background. I feel the end result looks pretty good.
2. Skytower
Before
After
This image again I'm not entirely sure how I edited it as I forgot to press done when I finished. Something I need to work on remembering. I do know I went to the HSL/Greyscale Panel to make the image black and white. And then resized the image by making the longest edge 20cm and set the resolution to 72dpi. And saved as JPEG Image.
3. Auckland City/HSL Target Adjustment
I don't have the edited version of this image on blog. I tried to add it but it wouldn't let me upload it for some reason. I'm not entirely sure how I edited this one either as I forgot to press done again. I think in the edited version though I increased the temperature to make the image warmer and to make it more of an orange colour in the sky. I took the exposure down, increased the contrast to give a bit more detail and decreased the shadows by a tiny bit. I then resized the image to make it an A5 photo and saved it as a TIFF so it can be printed.
